[00:00:02] Speaker A: Welcome to the NUMA Church Podcast, wherever you are in the world. We are so glad you've joined us. Our prayer is that this message from our visiting guest ministry will reveal more of who our heavenly Father is as we all grow deeper in intimacy with Jesus. Enjoy the message.
[00:00:19] Speaker B: So you know the word that I got for us today?
The Holy Spirit was talking to me about, you know, even believers in Jesus sometimes have difficulty knowing that they are beloved.
You are my beloved. Be. I was listening to Francis Chan and he, you know the word beloved if you picture it in your mind. But if you do a separation, be loved.
And I'm like, revelation, be loved. Our first call is to be loved.
We love him because he first loved us. We know the scripture. We know we know it. But do we know it? And I'm talking to myself.
How well I let God love me is how well I'm going to love others.
Because when I know that I'm loved and accepted and that I'm his, and even with my frailties and weaknesses and little idiosyncrasies and personality traits. Brendan, just. You can keep quiet. Right?
Yeah, he still. And it's not our kind of love. It's out of this world, but he's put it in our hearts. So the same love that Jesus is loved, it's the same love that the Father has for us, because Christ Jesus lives in us.
So listen to this. Romans 1:7. And I just threw all these scriptures. Oh, there you go.
It says to all who are in Rome. And I'd say to all who are on the Sunshine coast, because we know this word is living today and relevant today to all who are living in Rome, the Sunshine Coast. Beloved of God. My message is simple. It's all about being loved.
So even in our worship, as we were loving on God, I don't know about you, but I was, like, overwhelmed with his love for me.
You can't minister to God and not get a kickback of his love. As soon as you wake up in the morning, Good morning, Daddy. God. Good morning, Jesus. Good morning, Holy Spirit. And God's like, yeah, I want to tell you how much I love you. I want to fill you up for your day. Do you realize that I'm going to walk with you. He just wants to bring it to us. Beloved of God. Called to be what?
Saints. Oh, this is another version.
Did I say the. Anyway, I did say the niv. So anyway, this is the version I've got here. Called to be saints. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and The Lord Jesus Christ. So I just wanted to focus a little bit in the time that we had on grace and peace and get a revelation that this prayer that Paul wrote to the Roman Church, he's saying, beloved of God, you are called to saints when you have Christ living in you. We're no longer sinners. We were sinners saved by grace. We're now saints. We don't have to. Brendan and I were brought up in the Catholic Church, so saint status was like, whoa. You had to perform however many miracles and to be canonized and recognized as a saint. But here we see that we are saints. We don't have to do the miracles. We're washed and cleansed through the blood of Jesus Christ and God calls us saints and we can walk in that. Yes, we sin, yes, we do things that are offensive to God, but as soon as we do, the Holy Spirit's like, mm, you better sort that out, you know, you better repent. You better say sorry to that person. You better come before me, because that's gonna. It's gonna put a blockage. If you keep that offence, if you hold onto that, you're going to block the face to face.
And so as saints of God, it says grace to you and peace from God, our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. So, firstly, we're understanding today that we're beloved of God. We are God's beloved. Secondly, God has grace and peace for us.
The question is, can we receive it? That's my big question mark today.
Can we receive it? And let's make it a pursuit that we grow in our receptivity of everything that God has done for us. And so grace to you, receiving God's grace, what is it? It's a gift from God, not something that we can earn. And you know this. You're good students of the Word. We don't get it by pleasing the pastor or pleasing other people, our parents, our associates. We get the grace to walk in God individually, making decisions for our life, being led by God and accountable to God for our lives and the way we do life. And there's grace to do that.
It's an unconditional love that comes before us, given freely, regardless of how we've acted. And I tell you, if you could hear some of the ways I've acted in the past, we'd all be shocked, wouldn't we, at our stories? I'm just glad that because we repent, our videos won't be shown in heaven, only the good stuff, right? So make sure we're like, have I Confessed that, you know, as a good little Catholic girl. Actually, it wasn't good as a little Catholic girl. And I'm not slamming in the Catholic Church because I believe that, you know, yeah, those that love Jesus and have given their lives to Jesus, it doesn't matter about denomination, does it? It's Jesus. And. But I remember as a little girl being terrified of going into a closed, dark space with a man behind a screen, the priest, and having to say what I've done. So I said the same three sins every time I went. I disobeyed my parents, I fought with my sister and I forget the other one anyway. And then he would say, I absolve you. I didn't even know what that meant. And then 10 Hail Marys, out you go and get on your knees. I'm like, hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with me. You know, having no revelation of the power of confession, you know, it talks in James. These are not in my notes. But in James it says, you know, if you're unwell, call for the elders and confess your sin that you might be healed.
I'm like, wow, that's a revelation. It's not just pray for me for healing to get well.
But is there anything that is offensive towards God in you? Confess it. If you feel guilty and you're carrying something from the past, the best thing you can do is tell God about it. But tell a trusted believer friend that can go, well, if you only knew what I've done.
And pray for that person and release them from that bondage.
We can release people in Jesus name and pray for them when they come to us and say, you've got no idea. Back in the day, in the 90s, Brendan and I worked in the inner city of Melbourne. God asked us and our pastors in our church, would you go and reach the children of the inner city of Melbourne? And we had a yes in our heart. And there was a journey to know what to do to get to them. But we got to them and there was a particular family.
Stacy was a mum of six children to four different dads. And Stacy had a mouth like you wouldn't believe.
And so she. That family, her two little girls, she would send them to our program, our Christian program.
And then she. That family was on my visit list.
So we would visit 500 children a week, 12 of us in the high rise. Cause we'd go from the top all the way through.
And by the time we got to the bottom of the high rise, we were like 40 kids pied pipers following us.
Anyway, Stacy lived in a low rise, so she was on my list. So for four years every week I would knock on her door and she'd yell at me and swear I won't use, of course I won't use words and there are children here and you're children and I'm pure. And so anyway, but she would at me take my kids and so off the two little girls would come, six year old, eight and six, maybe they'd come to our program. And anyway, after four years of knocking on her door, she said, oh yeah, she had emphysema so she would smoke and have a oxygen machine next to her.
Yeah, she was my age, I was her age. So one day she's like, would you like a cup of coffee?
I'm like, she's going to poison me.
I know it. I'm going to so Holy spirit with me. And in those days we didn't do, we, we didn't do two by two. And then I changed the rules, didn't I? We used to go out two by two. But at that day I was on my own. So I'm like, okay, yes, I'd love a cup of coffee. So in I came, smoke filled room. Daniel, her 10 year old boy who had 49 charges against him from the police, made the coffee. And I'm like, I'm gone.
You know that scripture where you know you can drink anything poison. I'm thinking, Jesus, help. But I didn't want to reject her because she invited me. So I'm sitting there and Stacy says, Jesus. And I thought, here she's going in there, she's like, Jesus in the morning, Jesus at nighttime singing about Jesus, said, my kids cannot shut up about Jesus.
Tell me about him.
Ooh, well, guess what I did. So Daniel came out, they gave their, surrendered their lives to Jesus.
Anyway, she was so very sick. And so every week I would go and visit her. And then another time I was exhausted. Bren was doing a trip to Burma, to Myanmar, and we had no money and he did a missions trip by faith so that we could trust God to take us around the world to minister. So off he is in Burma for that week. Stacy's like, are you coming? Are you coming around? And I said, stacy, I'm done. I'm so tired. Look, if you want to see me, you get yourself because we moved into the inner city to be close to the children. If you need to see me, please, you come to me. And I knew it was virtually impossible because she could hardly breathe anyway, Next thing I hear, about 20 minutes later, is cafe. There's Daniel with Stacy in a shopping trolley with her oxygen in the shore. And he just dumped her.
And it took 20 minutes to get up the stairs to where we stay. We're living. And for the. She came every day for a week.
And what did we do? She lay on my couch and I had her head in my lap, and she confessed her sin.
It took a week.
And I had to just, like, hold my breath sometimes because of the things that she'd done.
And she's. She's just laying there and she's like, kathy, just sing over me.
Sing Jesus over me.
And at the same time, she's like, will you speak at my funeral? And I'm like, girl, you're going to be healed. We're all going to be good. I'll see you at 92. We'll be old together. Anyway, she didn't make it very long.
And my son in love came and played. Yeah, sorry. Oh, yeah.
I was doing my visitations and Daniel came running out of that house and screaming, mom.
And I ran up the stairs and Stacy was on the bed. And I thought, I'm going to do a Smith's Wigglesworth here.
She was so light. Yeah, Brendan, you could get on there, because I just feel we don't have a lot of time. And he carries the anointing, right. As soon as he gets on that keyboard, I'm like, oh, Jesus. I. I pick her up and I'm like, life, life in Jesus name. The Holy Spirit said straight away, don't need to pray. She's not coming back. She's seeing Jesus.
And I'm like.
I popped her back on the bed. And then within seconds, the place was flooded. The paramedics were there, the family were there. It was like, before that, there was nobody. And then they just came. And I spent five hours in that house ministering to the children, the parent, you know, the people. See you soon. We all know where you're going, Mackenzie.
And I went, oh, my gosh. She asked me to do her funeral. I'd never done a funeral before. I rang my pastor and I said, where's the book on funerals? He's like, there's no book. Just ask the Holy Spirit.
So I went to a park. And the other thing that happened, the two little girls were given. Brennan's away, right?
They gave them to me. Can you look after them? We don't know anybody else who will care for them.
They just lost their mother. I took them home.
Ministered to them, tried to help them. Anyway, the funeral. So the Holy Spirit laid it out for me, just like today. I sang, I was with them as they visited the body and then I preached and gave an altar call where 70 people responded to receiving Jesus.
Because I said, you people. Because Stacy was a pivotal person in the community. It was like Coronation Street. She was the one where the drugs would come through. She was the one where her children were stealing so people could come and buy her goods. She was the one. She was a central figure in this community. And they didn't know she got saved. They didn't know. They didn't have time to see the fruit of her salvation.
But I was able to say, this is what's happened to Stacy and I know where she is. And I gave them the gospel of Jesus and my son in law is playing for me. Brennan's still overseas.
He calls me one day and says, can you send some money? I've run out of money. I'm like, it was Valentine's Day.
He rang me on Valentine's Day and said, can you send some?
[00:16:50] Speaker C: Yeah, money.
[00:16:51] Speaker B: I'm like, no, I've got no money. And let me tell you what's happened.
And so that's, that's one of the stories.
A whole community. And then as I'm giving the altar call and people are surrendering to Jesus.
Funerals are a great place to preach the gospel because it's the finality, isn't it, of this earthly life. And do you know where you are going?
The Holy Spirit said, that's your assignment completed.
And that's when he sent us into all the world to start traveling to bring the gospel. It was like that was the seat and off we went. But those two girls, one lives in Perth Cassie, and the other one went to heaven. She didn't survive this side of heaven.
She did give her life to Christ along the way.
That's my first scripture. How many scriptures Justin ever got? Like 21.
So what am I saying to all who are on the Sunshine coast in this Numa church called to be saints, Grace. God's unmerited favour is flowing through you. His grace is the forgiveness we've received. His grace is the empowerment that we have to live for him and to be living witnesses in our communities, in our villages, nursing places, where we're going, what we're doing, wherever we're going, in the name of Jesus, his grace is sufficient. And then it says, and his peace. Paul's praying, grace and peace. I'm saying, grace and peace. What Is that peace? The shalom I love using, having been to Israel. The weight of that Hebrew word. The weight of that word. Shalom. Shalom.
Nothing missing. Be unto you. Nothing broken. Be unto you. Be made whole. Be made whole. That greeting is like in Australia, we're like, g'day, hi.
But that Hebrew greeting is a weighty greeting. Receive his peace from our Lord Jesus Christ.
Receive inner peace. You know, that inner peace that is beyond circumstances. Circumstances. How could I do that when my husband was away, my right hand man and all of that in one week?
I was filled with peace. And thank God for my church family, because they came around me in prayer and they stood with me. My son in love. My daughter must have been working. I'm not sure the inner peace that Jesus had when he fell asleep in the boat when there's a massive storm. So much so that the disciples thought they were going to die.
And Jesus is asleep in the boat intentionally. He already said, we're going to the other side. What is God saying to us about our lives? He's taking us to the other side. And can we be serene and calm in the midst of life's storms? I'm still learning.
Whoo. Jesus, I'm hanging on to you. And he said to the disciples, oh, you of little faith. It's like God, I want Holy Spirit to be strong in the storms of life. I want to do sickness well healed of cancer.
Thank you, God.
Mental health issues in 2020. Like many people out of action for 12 months, I didn't think I was going to get through it.
But I held and I wasn't sleeping through those night when I sing that song. Your voice in the night when I was tormented.
[00:21:09] Speaker C: Hold on.
[00:21:11] Speaker B: Your voice is speaking to me through His Word, an anchor to our souls.
That inner peace, that shalom peace is available. That calm when you hear news that's like, whoa. Didn't see that coming.
That inner peace. Because he is the prince, right?
Thank you, God. You know, the Father confirmed over Jesus in Matthew. We're going to Matthew 3:17. It says, suddenly a voice came from heaven.
This is my beloved Son in whom I'm well pleased.
Did Jesus need that assurance and affirmation?
May maybe because his humanity side, all God, all man, incomprehensible. And then again at the mount of Transfiguration, when Jesus was shown shiny and glorious in his glory, the Father's voice came over him because he was about to ascend to heaven and said, this is my beloved son. Listen to him in whom I'm well pleased. Listen and I just know that God is singing over you and speaking over you. You are my beloved.
Zephaniah 3:17 says, God sings over us. And I'm grateful for this gift to be able to sing over you on behalf of the Father. So this is my ministry moment.
As we've been ministering to the Father in our worship, in our surrender and our love exchange and our acknowledgement of the cross through communion. Now it's your turn to receive. Would you close your eyes?
Whatever you are facing, whatever decisions that need to be made, whatever you're going through, let the Father's love just receive.
[00:23:25] Speaker C: You are my beloved.
You are my beloved.
My child, I have you in the palm of my hand.
I've got you and I understand you're my beloved.
I can be trusted with your life and your circumstances.
In every decision to be made, you can trust that you hear my voice and you never need to be afraid.
Cause you are my beloved.
My child, you're loved by me.
[00:24:54] Speaker B: You will seek my face and I'll be found by you.
[00:25:02] Speaker C: My plans for you are to prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers.
Even as your soul prospers.
For you are my beloved.
You are my beloved.
[00:25:46] Speaker B: Father, I commit every person in this room to you, commit their families to you, their concerns, their circumstances, their health, their well being, every part spirit, soul and body.
God, you are chasing each one down with your love and mercy and grace.
Lord, as we prioritize you in our homes, in our prayer times, in our secret place time, your word is a lot alive in our hearts and Holy Spirit, you are with us.
So I thank you as you continue to sing over us. Lord, you sing over us. Freedom. Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is emancipation, there is freedom.
So we thank you God for all that you've done. We seal the work of your spirit in our hearts and in our minds. Give thanks that we could be together today to experience your love.
In Jesus name, Amen.
[00:27:08] Speaker D: Thank you for joining us. We hope that you enjoyed today's podcast and we realized that not everyone has had the opportunity opportunity to respond to the good news of the gospel. And for this reason, in all of our services and platforms, we want to extend to you the opportunity to follow Jesus. The Bible teaches us that we have been created for a relationship with God. However, sin, which is essentially disobedience, independence and disbelief or are simply missing the mark, entered the world and separated us from God. Romans 6:23 says that the wages of sin is death and a debt was owed. And the Bible tells us that he demonstrated his love for us that while we were still sinners, he died for us. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin. John 3:16 says, For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God so loved the world that he gave us Jesus that whoever believes in him will be saved. All that is required of anyone is that they believe in Jesus, the Son of God who came, lived, died, and rose again so that we could be forgiven, made right, and given the right to become children of God and to have life forevermore with Him.
Today you can begin a relationship with Jesus. To believe in him is to simply to respond with faith in our hearts and confess with our mouths that he is Lord. And we do that through a simple prayer.
Follow along with Me Dear Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God. I thank you that you love me and came to forgive me of my sin. I repent from my old way of life and I turn to follow you. I receive the free gift of eternal life and I ask that you fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I can live a life of following after you. I thank you that I am born again as a child of God and that I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. Amen. If you prayed this prayer for the first time, we would love to connect with you and connect you to your next step at the local church in your area. You can contact us on our website at NUMA Church. Thanks for listening.
